Wireless

ssid <name>

Bind an SSID profile to the radio so the AP actually advertises it. Typed under interface Dot11Radio0.

Works on: Access pointMode: iface

Example

AP-Lobby(config)# dot11 ssid GUEST-WIFI
AP-Lobby(config-ssid)# exit
AP-Lobby(config)# interface Dot11Radio0
AP-Lobby(config-if)# encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm
AP-Lobby(config-if)# ssid GUEST-WIFI
AP-Lobby(config-if)# no shutdown
Watch out

The profile must exist first ('dot11 ssid <name>'); the radio refuses a name it doesn't know. This is the step most often missed: until it runs no station can associate, and a laptop that already joined starts passing traffic the moment it does.

Run this command live

Don't just read it — type ssid <name> in a real network simulator in your browser and watch it take effect. No install, no account needed to start.
